For this piece I wanted to capture the stillness and contemplative nature of a traditional portrait, while simultaneously evoking or mapping Ian’s internal mental activity. The movements of the birds, almost like pages being flipped in a book, become fluttering thoughts that oscillate between the frantic and serene.
